From Burlington to Washington, DC
Dear Friends and Family,
I had a fantastic trip to visit the kiddos down in the city. I planned to take the train down and mentioned it to the girls when Jennifer found a direct flight out of Burlington for $200. No sitting on the train for 11 hours, no jostling back and forth all the way! I went online and booked my ticket for a whole week stay including a weekend with not only the girls but husband and boyfriend, too!
First visit to J&E’s new home
Jennifer and Evan moved into their new condominium about a month before the trip and I am delighted to say it is really beautiful and super comfortable. They seem very settled and truly enjoying the benefits of homeownership. I had a wonderful time, playing golf (okay hanging out at the driving range simulating playing golf with lunch and beer served tee side), visiting a local brewery (a short walk from the condo), and spending a day in Virginia at several vineyards tasting wine, enjoying the great weather, and sharing a delicious bottle of red with some of my favorite people!!
One of my days there everyone worked. Vivian (J&E’s sweet puppy dog 🙂 check out the about me page) and I spent the day walking the neighborhood and researching great themes for my website. It was very beneficial for me to have an alone day in a different environment other than my own home as it really helped get my creativity in gear.
Later in the week, I got my requisite steps in with Jillian exploring her DC neighborhood and enjoying a light dinner at a Spanish restaurant. She lives in a fantastic area near where she works and has been fortunate to not need a car. I couldn’t leave without a jaunt through a museum (Museum of Art) and a guided tour of the Capital Building.
The week went by in a flash and was truly memorable. Love visiting the kids!! My flight got back into Burlington at midnight (oops my bad scheduling) and my wonderful husband picked me up. I left Vermont with the foliage just beginning to make an exit and got home to several inches of snow on our front lawn. Ah, Vermont weather can be very unpredictable and challenging?!?!
Happy Halloween
We don’t do much here for Halloween living on a dead end road with no children in residence. There are only 10 houses on the road. I think there is a new high school aged student down the road who just moved here from Pennsylvania. Other than that we have all finished raising our kids and most of us live a very quiet, homestead life. For everyone who loves Halloween, I hope you have a great time trick or treating. I have to admit I do enjoy the Halloween candy splurge!!
Love to all,
Patricia
