How we wake up in the morning is so important and yet quite often we drift into our day in a fog.
I consciously take the time each morning to adjust my thinking. When I wake up I focus on something positive. I will listen for that wonderful birdsong and say a gratitude statement for the opportunity to start my day with this incredible music. Or I think about something uplifting and soulful like the newest flower blooming in my garden.
I then do a few stretches while still warm under the covers. Arm over head and stretch one leg long then the other. I scrunch up into a ball and feel the stretch in my lower back. I move in every way I can!! Then I get that wonderful cup of coffee! The first sip is just wonderful.
I listen to music, do a guided meditation and set my intentions for the day. I may go out for a walk or down to my yoga mat to get my body awake and moving. I make exercise and movement and medications priorities throughout the day.
We don’t do that often enough because we don’t put the same level of importance on taking care of mind, soul, body as we do with taking care of finances or our house or lawn
